A 58-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife and walked through a village in Chhattisgarh's Korba district carrying her severed head, police said on Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday evening in Bundeli village, under the Rajgamar police outpost limits. The accused, identified as Salik Ram Yadav, works as a watchman at a local poultry farm. Police say he attacked his 50-year-old wife with a sharp meat-cutting weapon following a dispute, allegedly while drunk.
After killing her, Yadav walked through the village holding the severed head in one hand and the weapon in the other, shocking residents. He then placed both the head and the weapon into a plastic sack, left his wife's torso at the scene, and walked to the Rajgamar police outpost, where he surrendered.
During questioning, Yadav told police that frequent domestic disputes had driven him to commit the crime. He claimed his wife repeatedly suspected him of infidelity, which led to persistent quarrels between the two.
