The investigation into the alleged rape andmurder of a senior bureaucrat’s daughter in Delhihas revealed more serious allegations against the 19-year-old suspect, identified as Rahul. According to reports, hours before reaching Delhi, the accused allegedly raped a married woman in his hometown Alwar, Rajasthan. The woman was alone at home with her children at the time. He is also accused of threatening to kill her husband and children if she reported the crime.
After the incident in Alwar, the accused reportedly stopped an ambulance on the Delhi highway and offered Rs 5,000–Rs 6,000 for a ride to Delhi. During his journey, he allegedly sold three mobile phones and collected around Rs 13,000. Police said he travelled from Alwar to Delhi on Tuesday night and went straight to a house in the Kailash Hills area.
There were no signs of forced entry at the house. Police believe a spare key is usually kept outside for domestic workers, and the accused, who had earlier worked there, knew about it and used it to enter. Rahul had worked at the house for about eight months but was removed around six weeks ago after he was accused of misusing money meant for household purchases.
Preliminary investigation suggests the accused may be linked to several molestation cases and could be a repeat offender. Police are checking his background and past records.
After the incident, the victim’s family checked CCTV footage. According to police sources, the footage shows the accused entering the building and going to the third floor, where the victim lived. The footage has been handed over to police. Cameras were installed near the entrance of the victim’s room, and the live feed could be accessed on both the victim’s and her father’s mobile phones.
Police also said the accused was seen on a nearby street camera carrying a backpack. Police are continuing their investigation to confirm all details and gather more evidence.
