Voters approved the Bayport-Blue Point Library’s 2026-2027 budget and elected candidates for unopposed trustee seats on April 14.
The library’s $4.58 million budget passed with 273 votes in favor, and 48 votes against.
“This year’s proposed library budget reflects our continued commitment to providing high-quality library services while remaining fiscally responsible and conservative with taxpayer funds,” the Bayport-Blue Point Library Board of Trustees said in a letter.
This year’s budget is $167.343, or 3.79 percent, higher than the 2025-2026 budget.
The budget will allow the library to continue supporting employee salaries and benefits, along with supporting the over 1,000 events, and assortment of materials and spaces offered throughout the library.
In the Bayport-Blue Point Library’s trustee election, candidate Bob Draffin won a five-year term after joining the board last fall to fill outgoing trustee Stephanie Heineman’s seat. Trustee candidate Cathy Ramos won a two-year term on the library’s board and also ran unopposed.n
