A new ranking of thebest college campuses in the United Stateshas crowned a California university as the nation’s top spot, highlighting the Golden State’s continued dominance in higher education and campus life.

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) ranked No. 1 overall, beating out hundreds of institutions nationwide thanks to its combination of academics, facilities, and student experience,according to the latest data compiled by Niche, an online platform with comprehensive college information.

Located in LA’s affluent Westwood neighborhood, UCLA’s sprawling 419-acre campus is often described as a “college in a garden,” known for its lush landscapes and iconic architecture. Withmore than 33,000 undergraduatesand over 125 majors, the university pairs elite academics with a vibrant campus culture, according to raving reviews on the platform.

Student reviews played a major role in the ranking — and they paint a largely positive picture.

“As a first-year student I enjoy being at UCLA,” one freshman noted. “The food is decent and there are many options on the hill. I feel like I am challenged academically here.”

UCLA is also ranked number one for best food on a college campus.

The freshman also noted that while class enrollment can be stressful, “overall [I’m] happy with my decision to enroll.”

The number one public university in the country has an acceptance rate of under 10 percent.

California didn’t just take the top spot— it also secured another place in the top three.

California Baptist University in Riverside ranked No. 3, earning praise for its scenic campus and supportive environment.
