A speech delivered by a young participant inside Parliament has resonated far beyond the chamber, gaining widespread attention online for its message on unity and constitutional values.
Ananya Negi, a student from Himachal Pradesh, addressed the audience at Constitution Hall as a representative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs. Focusing on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s ideals, she spoke about equality, justice, and the idea of India as a shared identity that rises above divisions.
Currently pursuing her studies at Jaypee University of Information Technology, Negi used the platform to highlight the importance of collective belonging. Her address reflected a strong belief in the inclusive vision laid out in the Constitution.
“We the people of India, not we the Hindu, we the Muslim, we the Punjabi, we the Sikh, we the Tamil. We the people of India,” she said, igniting the spirit of the Constitution. “So today, standing here in the Parliament of India, I don't just see a nation shaped by history, ladies and gentlemen, I see a nation shaped by vision.”
Her remarks stressed the need to look beyond differences and work towards a larger purpose. “An India where people from different regions, different backgrounds, different languages come together not just to compete, but to contribute. Not just to co-exist, but to stand for something larger than themselves,” she added, earning applause from the audience.
She concluded her speech with lines by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, “Badhayein aati hain aayein, Ghirein pralay ki ghor ghataayein, Paon ke neeche angaare,Sir par barsein yadi jwaalaayein, Nij haathon se hanste-hanste, Aag lagaakar jalna hoga. Kadam milaakar chalna hoga (Let obstacles come if they must, Let dark clouds of destruction gather, Even if there are embers beneath our feet, And flames rain down upon our heads, With our own hands, smiling still, We must set the fire and endure the burning. We must walk forward, step in step)”.
Ending with “Jai Hind, Jai Bharat,” her address left a strong impression, positioning the speech as more than just a student presentation, it became a reflection on the continued relevance of constitutional ideals.
The speech has since reached a much wider audience online, with clips circulating across social media platforms. Viewers have praised her clarity, confidence, and the depth of her message, with many describing her words as both timely and inspiring.
