A Democratic senator is coming under fire for appearing to cheer on the Iranian military as American soldiers’ lives remain at risk.
On Monday night, a report from an outlet calledLloyds Listalleged that 26 Iranian shadow fleet vessels had bypassed US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. As TGP readers know, the U.S. has implemented a naval blockade after negotiations between Iran and the United States failed to produce an agreement.
Iran, of course, has tried to use the Strait as a piggy bank, making ships pay atollto pass through in an effort to rebuild their defenses.
Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) gloated after seeing the Lloyd’s List report, replying that the news was “awesome.”
