A shocking case has come to light inBengaluru, where a 27-year-old woman allegedly murdered herboyfriendafter luring him into a trap under the pretext of a proposal as per "western trends", according to reports. The incident took place within the limits of the Byadarahalli Police Station.

The accused, identified as Prema alia Prerna, aged 27, had been in a relationship with Kiran for over a year and worked together at a mobile store near Rajajinagar, according to a report by News18.

As details emerge, the woman allegedly tied her boyfriend, calling it a "western-style" proposal, and set him on fire using kerosene, killing him. The police described it as a premeditated murder.

According to the report, the police said that the girlfriend planned the killing after suspecting that her boyfriend was distancing himself from her. The victim came to his girlfriend's house after she called him over, informing him that no one was at home.

The two recently started engaging in arguments after Kiran allegedly began avoiding her. According to the police sources, the woman allegedly told her boyfriend that she wanted to make a dramatic proposal in a western style and asked him to "partially undress" and tie his hands and legs with ropes, saying that it was the proposal ritual, News18 reported.

She then allegedly poured kerosene over her boyfriend and set him on fire. The police further suspect that the woman might have recorded the act on her mobile phone.

According to the police officials, the woman initially claimed that she was inside the washroom when she heard a loud burst and rushed to see Kiran engulfed in flames, alleging that he had set himself on fire.

However, the officials found errors in her statements, prompting investigators to suspect foul play in the killing. “It is a murder committed by the girl. They were in a relationship, and she felt he was ignoring her of late. She has used kerosene and set him on fire," said police officials as per News18 report.

The woman is currently in custody and undergoing intense interrogation by Byadarahalli police, who are also examining digital evidence, including possible video recordings, to reconstruct the sequence of events.
