Area school districts have finalized their candidate lists for the upcoming May 19 elections.
In the Herricks Union Free School District, five challengers are running for the two seats vacated by Trustees James Gounaris and Henry Zanetti, who are not seeking reelection.
The candidates for Gounaris’s seat are Lisa Iuculano and Eric Lo, a financial adviser who hasrun in the districtbefore. For Zanetti’s seat, the candidates are Nidhi Guru, neurologistRitech Ramdhani, andAthul Santhoush, a recent graduate.
In theCarle Place School District, two incumbent trustees are seeking re-election, with four challengers also running.
The incumbents are Board President Vanessa Dong-Monaco and Board Vice President Kathleen Reardon. Viki Santos Brenner, Kimberly Ribarich, Guarav Singh and Christine Aguilar have also submitted petitions for election consideration.
According to the district, the 2025 budget vote had a turnout of around 580, and the 2024 election drew about 1,100 voters.
In theWestbury School District, incumbent board members Robin Bolling and Rodney Caines are running unopposed for re-election. According to the district, the most recent board elections recorded a turnout of almost 500 voters.
