Chile earthquake LIVE: South American country rocked by huge 6.2 tremor

A massive earthquake has rocked a country in South America. A tremor struckChileon Thursday afternoon, February 12. The US Geological Survey (USGS) estimated the strength of the quake to be at 6.2 magnitude.

The tremor hit 32 kilometres south-west of Ovalle, a city in central Chile.

Reports say the 6.2 magnitude quake hit Ovalle at just after 1.30pm. It is believed to have been the biggest quake to strike the region since 2019.
