STEIGERWALD (voice-over): "A packed house Monday night at Columbus City Council as council members debated bringing pro women’s soccer to the city. In a split decision, council approved a $25 million deal paid back through a 2% ticket fee at Scott's Miracle-Gro Field. The funds will also cover stadium upgrades and five new field training facilities at McCoy Park. The practice that replaces earlier plans at McCoy Park drawing some opposition from residents and even some council members."

UNKNOWN: "We could have 100% full support for women’s soccer team here in Columbus, which we do want, but not at the cost of McCoy Park."

HARDIN: "I’m frustrated that the mayor’s negligence put us all in this situation."

STEIGERWALD (voice-over): "That’s council president Shannon Hardin speaking out against the measure, saying that commitment to redirect plans for McCoy Park was made without council approval. While part of McCoy Park will remain public, an amendment approved last night creates a working group to create a new plan within a set timeline. It also requires the team’s owners to pay $3 million toward this new park."
