Hyperwrite CEO Matt Schumer has taken the whole X fraternity by storm with his latest essay titled 'Something Big Is Happening,' where he talked about the unprecedented speed of AI advancements. He wrote, 'I've spent six years building an AI startup and investing in the space. I live in this world. And I'm writing this for the people in my life who don't... my family, my friends, the people I care about who keep asking me ‘so what's the deal with AI?’ and getting an answer that doesn't do justice to what's actually happening.'

Concerned about the way AI is moving forward in terms of advancement, Schumer said, 'I should be clear about something up front: even though I work in AI, I have almost no influence over what's about to happen, and neither does the vast majority of the industry. The future is being shaped by a remarkably small number of people: a few hundred researchers at a handful of companies... OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and a few others.'

In order to make people understand the disruption's pace, he used the example of Covid and said that in a few weeks, the world transitioned from regular day to day life to worldwide lockdowns. According to his belief, AI can do a similar thing like that in the near future.

What's more concerning is that he said, 'I should be clear about something up front: even though I work in AI, I have almost no influence over what’s about to happen, and neither does the vast majority of the industry. The future is being shaped by a remarkably small number of people: a few hundred researchers at a handful of companies… OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and a few others.'

At the end of the essay, he made his stance clear by saying, 'I’m not writing this to make you feel helpless. I’m writing this because I think the single biggest advantage you can have right now is simply being early. Early to understand it. Early to use it. Early to adapt.'

It has also been previously also mentioned in a Microsoft report that the white collar jobs will be the most affected by the advancement of AI, as most of the companies are trying to cut costs and automate as much work as they can. And the same is the opinion of Schummer, as he mentioned that jobs white collar jobs like legal work, writing, analysis, customer service, medical analysis, and more will suffer a major shortage with every progressive AI phase.

In the current times, one thing which is pretty clear is that AI is here to stay, and those who are ignoring are, especially in a job that requires both a PC and internet, are already lagging behind in the race of acquiring skills. Most of the entry-level jobs in almost every field will get affected by the AI boom. But as far as we think, nothing is going to vanish, not at least for now.
