Kash said he would be hitting them with a defamation suit. And he meant it.
Muckraking and smear attacks are as old as politics themselves. But when the party out of power coordinates with media and third parties to destroy their enemies, that’s not ‘news’, that’s defamation.
We often refer back to David Brock’s ‘Media Matters War Plan 2017‘ which gave the textbook play-by-play steps that coordinated ‘impartial’ and ‘watchdog’ groups as political attack dogs to smear, slander, bring bogus legal charges, incriminate, and ultimately impeach a president who had not yet been sworn in as the 45th POTUS. Some of those same players were STILL at it during the Biden years when Trump was fighting to stay on the ballot.
That may have been the playbook they used against Trump. But it’s one they’ve been using for a LONG time. What they did to SCOTUS nominee Robert Bork was so obvious and vindictive that it turned the process into averb.
They’ve thrown it at any number of political candidates and nominees ever since, and one of the reasons Trump has risen to the top was his unusual ability to trade punches with the people trying to use dirty defamation tactics to ruin him. It takes an unusual kind of chutzpah to turn your mugshot into a campaign photo.
They tried, and failed, to take down Hegseth with rumours and innuendo. And now they’re trying to do the same with Kash Patel, alleging him to be a drunk who is bailing on his responsibilities at work.
Let’s look at the success rate of the FBI in the past year, catching 8 of the top 10 most wanted, busting up HUGE child trafficking rings and releasing the kids in their clutches, opioid deaths are down by somewhere between 10 and 20%, murders are down by about 20% year over year. If these are the results he’s been able to generate as a ‘no-show’… what do they suggest things would look like if they weren’t accusing him of ‘slacking’?
Actually, that positive track record is part of the case Patel is presenting:
Would you believe one of his critics on the left actually thought they were dragging Kash for posting this list?
In his $250 Million suit against the Atlantic, Patel specified various claims as false and defamatory:
