A vaastu consultant in Bengaluru has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing and assaulting a woman who had approached him for professional advice, even as the accused turned around and filed a counter-complaint accusing the woman and her two male associates of attempting to blackmail him. Both complaints have been registered at the Govindarajanagar police station in west Bengaluru, as per a media report.

According to the woman's account, the vaastu expert - identified as Shantakumar - sexually assaulted her on the evening of April 4 at a private office in the Vijayanagar area of the city. She had reportedly visited him seeking a professional consultation, reported The Times of India.

Shantakumar, however, has alleged that the woman, along with her two associates - named as Jamal and Amrutalingam - conspired to extort money from him, and that the sexual assault complaint is part of that larger scheme.

"Both parties know each other and were in touch before the incident. Our investigations will reveal why the vaastu expert is facing these allegations. The extortion angle is also being probed," a police officer said.

Officials are now examining both complaints simultaneously, looking into the veracity of the assault allegation as well as the claimed blackmail attempt. No arrests have been reported so far.
