Iran has issued anominous warningto the Trump administration, threatening to "face new cards on the battlefield", as peace negotiations with the Islamic Republic continue to stall.
The stark warning comes just two days before the fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefireis due to expire, with both sides signalling their readiness to resume military operations should no peace agreement be reached.
In a message posted on X on Monday afternoon, Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, wrote: "By implementing the blockade and violating the ceasefire, Trump wants to turn this negotiation table into a table of surrender or to justify a renewed war.
"We do not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats, and in the last two weeks, we have prepared to face new cards on the battlefield."
Despite the two-week truce being in place, PresidentDonald Trumpfurther inflamed tensions with Iran by ordering a U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, effectively cornering Iranian vessels.

Iran subsequently announced that the strait would be closed in response to the President's decision.
On Sunday, Iran's joint military command vowed retaliation after U.S. forces attacked and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship, alleging it had attempted to evade the naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz.
It marked the first interception since the U.S. imposed its blockade of Iranian ports the previous week. Iran's unified military command condemned the armed boarding as both a ceasefire violation and an act of piracy, according to official media reports. As the stand-off between the U.S. and Iran over the strait intensified and the ceasefire deadline loomed on Wednesday, the fate of President Donald Trump's earlier announcement regarding fresh talks with Iran remained decidedly unclear. He had previously stated that U.S. negotiators would travel to Pakistan on Monday.
