For the first time since the 2017-2018 NHL season, the Anaheim Ducks areback in the playoffs.

The Ducks last won a playoff series in 2017 — a seven-game second-round series against a rebuilding Edmonton Oilers, just two years after Connor McDavid entered the league.

Now, the Ducks willface the Oilers againin their return to the playoffs, only this time, it’sthemjust emerging from a rebuild while the Oilers have appeared in the last two Stanley Cup Finals.

Anaheim finished their first season under new head coach Joel Quenneville 43-33-6, and despite a late season surge, a 2-6-2 record in the final 10 games of the season put them in the Pacific Division’s No. 3 seed.

The 41-30-11 Edmonton Oilers are the Pacific’s No. 2 seed after back-to-back Stanley Cup appearances.

“Playoff hockey is unique,” McDavid said ahead of the matchup. “It’s a skill to win in the playoffs, and we feel pretty good about having that skill, having been there and won a lot of playoff games.”

Game 1 of the Ducks vs. Oilers playoff series is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET tonight, April 20.
