Days after a father and son were stabbed to death inSouth Delhi’sCR Park over a parking dispute, the capital has witnessed yet another chilling repeat. In East Delhi’s Preet Vihar, a late-night argument over parking spiralled into gunfire, leaving a 34-year-old man dead in the early hours on Monday. The deceased, identified as Pankaj Nayyar, had arrived from Noida to meet his brother when the argument turned fatal. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the accused, who is currently absconding.

The quarrel involved Pankaj Nayyar and his brother Paras on one side and Gaurav Sharma on the other. During the altercation, the accused allegedly opened fire. Pankaj sustained a gunshot injury to the chest.

He was rushed to Malik Radix Health Care Hospital in Nirman Vihar, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police said two PCR calls were received in quick succession. The first call was logged at 02:22 hours and the second at 02:26 hours, both reporting a firing incident and quarrel at A-144, Preet Vihar.

After the shooting, the accused and his accomplices fled the spot. “Efforts are being made to trace and apprehend the accused persons at the earliest,” police said.

An FIR has been registered at Preet Vihar police station under sections 103(1)/115(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.

Investigators are examining the sequence of events and scanning for evidence as teams continue searches to locate the accused.
