Punjab Kings (PBKS) continued their dominant run in the IPL 2026, as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the second match of the double header day on April 19 (Sunday). The Shreyas Iyer-led side won the match by 54 runs, riding on an exceptional batting performance in the first innings. With this heavy win, PBKS edged one step closer to the playoffs. In fact, they have become the first team in history to achieve a record feat in the IPL.
Punjab Kings defeated Gujarat Titans (GT), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI) and LSG. The only match that they did not win was against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a game that got washed out due to rain. Hence, after the first six matches of the tournament, PBKS have remained. This is the first time in history that a team has not been beaten in the first 6 matches of the tournament.
Batting first,PBKSscored 254/7, this IPL season's best total, surpassing RCB's 250/3 thanks to an incredibly entertaining second wicket partnership between Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, who added 182 runs in just 13.2 overs. It was Arya who top scored with 92, while Connolly continued his sparkling form in the tournament with an 87-run knock.
The two were quickly dismissed by LSG along with captain Shreyas Iyer, but by then the home team had established a fantastic launching pad for Marcus Stoinis (29) to profit upon.
LSG had a mountain to climb, and they never looked like they could get close to the total. With some resistance from captain Rishabh Pant (43), openers Mitchell Marsh (40), and Aiden Markram (42), LSG only went on to manage 200 for 5 in 20 overs. Marco Jansen was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 2/37 from his four overs.
PBKS thus won the match by 54 runs and continued their dominance, remaining at the top of the table with 11 points.
