Diablo 2 has returned with its first major content update in 25 years, Reign of the Warlock, introducing a brand-new playable class that promises to reshape the way players approach the classic game.

The Warlock, a master of dark and forbidden arts, allows players to wield demonic magic, manipulate weapons with mind power, and conjure chaotic forces. With secrets hidden within its gameplay mechanics, the update offers both veterans and new players unprecedented strategies to explore.

The Warlock comes with three distinct skill trees, each offering unique combat opportunities. The Demonic Binding tree allows players to enslave demons such as Goatmen, Tainted, and Defiler to fight alongside them. Warlocks can also consume these demons to augment their own powers, giving rise to strategic gameplay that is not available to any other class.

Eldritch Weapons enable Warlocks to manipulate armaments with magical hexes. Players can create ethereal duplicates of their weapons or throw them with deadly accuracy, making it the only class capable of wielding a two-handed weapon alongside an off-hand item.

Chaos skills harness hellfire and void to unleash devastating attacks, including the Apocalypse and Abyss abilities, which can annihilate enemies in a wide area. The Warlock's passive ability to levitate their right-hand weapon adds further versatility.

Reign of the Warlock introduces enhanced Terror Zones, offering stronger enemies and higher rewards.

These areas now rotate every 30 minutes, with players able to choose which Act becomes terrorised. Within these zones, Heralds of Terror hunt players, growing increasingly dangerous with each encounter.

According toBlizzard's update notes, Terror Zones now allow players to earn consumables to choose which Act becomes terrorised, intensifying every zone and offering greater rewards for riskier gameplay, and conquering these zones can uncover statues used to unlock the Colossal Ancients encounter.

A major new challenge comes in the form of the Colossal Ancients, pinnacle bosses unlocked by combining statues dropped from terrorised Act bosses.

Each Colossal Ancient grows more powerful as the player defeats other foes, demanding precise strategy and mastery of the Warlock's abilities.
