Two US nationals were detained at the Srinagar International Airport on Sunday after a satellite phone was recovered from their luggage during routine screening, officials told Times Now. The two have been detained for questioning, they said. The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police is investigating the case and trying to ascertain the travel itinerary of the detained foreign nationals.

In India, one can use a satellite phone only after acquiring a prior license from the Department of Telecommunications. For tourists or foreign nationals arriving in India with a satellite phone, they must declare the information on arrival.
