On the eve ofBangladesh’s general elections, the body of a 28-year-old Hindu man was found with his hands and feet tied in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar, The Daily Star reported. The man identified as Ratan Shuvo Kar was a worker at Champara Tea Garden under the Islampur union. The authorities registered a case after locals reported the incident and sent the body for a post-mortem.
The locals found the body in the garden around 10 AM on Wednesday and informed authorities. They said that his body had visible injury marks and was found bleeding.
According to a Daily Star report, a worker at the garden, on condition of anonymity, said that locals suspect that Ratan may have been killed elsewhere and the body was later dumped at that spot.
Some locals also reportedly believe that Ratan's death may be linked to the election, though no evidence has been found to prove this yet.
Ratan has been missing since last night. Ratan’s elder brother, Laxman Kar, said the family had been searching for him since last night. “This morning, we were informed that his body was lying in the garden. We went there and identified him. We do not know why he was killed,” he added, according to the report.
The body has been sent for autopsy to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, the police said, adding that they are investigating the crime to find the accused behind it.

The victim was identified as Susen Chandra Sarkar, the owner of Bhai Bhai Enterprise and a resident of Southkanda village.
Police said the attackers entered Sarkar’s shop and struck him repeatedly with a sharp weapon. After the assault, they left him inside the premises and pulled down the shop’s shutters. Sarkar’s family later began searching for him when he did not return home.
