Viral video showcasing a mysterious figure scaling the iconic 366-foot-tall Las Vegas Sphere this past Tuesday appears to beanother feat by daredevil climberAlex Honnold.

In social media videos, people spotted a small figure in the distance on topof the sphere, whose shape seems to defy logic for any sort of climb. A helicopter could be seen hovering nearby, assumedly filming the event.

The stunt, according to media reports, was actually linked to a project titled “From the Edge,”a film set to feature “extreme” athletes including Honnold.

According to Sphere’s website, the film will be directed by Academy Award winners E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. Filming will happen in Jordan, Dubai, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Austin, Las Vegas and Maui using cameras that would be able to display the content on the Sphere.

Interestingly, Chin worked with Honnold in the past.

“We’re even more interlinked than the list of expeditions” they did together, Honnold said on Chin during aFebruary podcast episode.

While not 100 percent confirmed, Honnold is the most likely suspect. Born and raised in Sacramento, helives in Las Vegaswith his wife and children. He chose to live in Las Vegas specifically for its premier year-round climbing access.

Honnold’s track record would make sense for climbing something like the Sphere. He’s famed for his free solo escapades and was the first person to tackle El Capitan in Yosemite National Park with no ropes.

More recently, in January,he scaled the massive 1,667-foot Taipei 101in Taiwan in just over 90 minutes during Netflix’s “Skyscraper Live” event. Honnold ascended one corner of the towering structure using small L-shaped outcroppings as footholds, periodically navigating around massive ornamental structures and pulling himself upward with his bare hands.
