Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) created history after taking the field against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their sixth game of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M. Chinnaswmay Stadium in Bengaluru. The defending champions have made a nearly flawless start to the season and are currently second on the table with four wins in five matches. They have eight points on the board and have lost just one match, which was a defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati.
At home, RCB have made a flying start with three wins in as many matches. While over the years, the Bengaluru-based side has not had the best home record, they have won all games they have played so far in Bengaluru, with victories over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Today's game is the 100th instance of RCB playing a match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. They are the first team to complete a century of games at a single venue in IPL's history. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have also played more than 90 games at their home venue so far.
Most Matches Played At Home Venue In IPL History
Overall, RCB has played 109 matches at the Chinnaswamy, as they also played nine games during the Champions League T20 at the venue in the 2009 and 2011 editions. They have 54 wins and 50 defeats to their name at the ground across all competitions. Across the world, 15 teams have played more games than the Bengaluru-based side at their home. All of them are English county teams that have achieved the feat in the famous T20 Blast competition, which was the first-ever competition in the shortest format in world cricket.
This season, RCB are playing just five of their seven home games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. This means that today's game is the penultimate league stage match at the venue, with Friday's (April 24) clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) the last one they will play at the ground. RCB will play their final two home games against KKR and MI atRaipur'sShaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium.
However, the defending champions could return to the venue during the playoffs. If the tradition of the second qualifier and final being played at the home ground of last year's winners is followed, then the Chinnaswamy will host those games. RCB could have the chance to retain their title in front of their home.
However, it is worth noting that the BCCI is yet to confirm the venues and dates of the playoffs.
The Chinnaswamy Stadium hosted the final in 2014 when KKR defeated Kings XI Punjab to lift their title. The summit clash of the 2016 edition also took place in Bengaluru when RCB suffered heartbreak after a defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
