AGUILAR: “I share their concerns, but again, the secretaries are coming with plans to address that. Unfortunately, I think the damage has been done by even addressing the conversation of it, the fact that they even mentioned it and the fact that they aren’t saying it’s not going to happen, is creating the fear among voters. I was at a local community member and our historical west side of Las Vegas, predominantly black, and that was the first question that came up from the community saying, what are we doing to ensure that people feel safe at polling locations? That conversation shows you the impact of the threat of federal agents being there, but secretaries have to be at the front of it. They have to be prepared. We have to have a solution. And my response was, first, we’re going to push back. We have legal pleadings ready to go."
