In a technology-driven world that often requires your fingerprints and eye scans on various levels to prove your identity, how comfortable are you sharing them? While your data is gold, tech companies are looking for new ways to confirm your identity using such scans. Sam Altman-backed digital identity platform ‘World’ is introducing a new way for Tinder users to confirm they are real people. Interestingly, the dating platform is giving free five boosts to the users to use this identity check as a reward.
How Does The World's Verification System Work?
Thiseye-scanning featureis being rolled out to select markets, which include the United States and Japan, after an earlier pilot. Users are needed to visit a physical scanning device in person, where their eyes and face are verified to ensure they are not bots but humans. The system will capture images of your eyes and face, which are then encrypted and will be stored on the device, as per World. Moreover, the platform stated that users will keep control of their data by default.
After the scanner verifies your profile, you can link the digital ID to apps like Tinder. This will offer them a ‘verified human’ badge on your profile.
Tinder Offers A Free Boost As An Incentive
Tinderalready provides verification options, such as government ID and photo checks. However, it is now encouraging users to use this eye scan check by giving three free five boosts. This offer is currently available for a limited time. Moreover, the identity system will also be integrated with Zoom and Docusign. The company is also introducing a separate World ID app that will let users manage their verification across platforms.
Is It Safe To Share Your Eye Scan?
While thecompanymentions that the scan is encrypted, some users may still remain cautious about sharing their biometric for a dating app feature. Ultimately, it is your choice to verify through an eye scan for free boosts, and you may still choose to rely on existing verification methods if you wish.
