The US leader switches focus to next month’s trip to Beijing hours after hailing Iran’s announcement it would reopen the Strait of Hormuz
“Our meeting in China will be a special one and, potentially, Historic. I look forward to being with President Xi – Much will be accomplished!”
Trump was originally scheduled to travel to China at the end of March, but the visit was postponed until May 14 and 15 because of the US-Israeli war with Iran.
On Friday night, Trump hailed the reopening of the strait and said negotiations “should go very quickly in that most of the points are already negotiated”.
Citing Iranian sources, CNN said the US and Iranian delegations were expected to arrive in Pakistan this weekend and potentially start talks on Monday, though the US has not confirmed the schedule.
