Donald Trump has suggested theIranwar may end soon as he claimed the US is "getting very close" to achieving its objective in the Middle Eastern country. In a message shared on the Truth Social platform on Friday, the US President also said his country won't be at the forefront of policing the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil route currentlybeing choked by Iranin response to the US and Israeli operation, after the conflict.

He wrote: "We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran: (1) Completely degrading Iranian Missile Capability, Launchers, and everything else pertaining to them. (2) Destroying Iran’s Defense Industrial Base. (3) Eliminating their Navy and Air Force, including Anti Aircraft Weaponry.

"(4) Never allowing Iran to get even close to Nuclear Capability, and always being in a position where the U.S.A. can quickly and powerfully react to such a situation, should it take place.

"(5) Protecting, at the highest level, our Middle Eastern Allies, includingIsrael, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and others."

In light of the launch of Operation Epic Fury, the codename for the strikes launched on February 28 by the US and Israel on Iran, the regime started a retaliatory campaign in the Middle East, targeting sensitive US targets inseveral countries including Iraq, Qatar and the UAE.

In his Truth Social post, Mr Trump also addressed the Strait of Hormuz crisis, which has contributed to energy prices skyrocketing across the globe.

Referring to US allies among other nations, he said: "The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not! If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn’t be necessary once Iran’s threat is eradicated. Importantly, it will be an easy Military Operation for them."

Last week, Mr Trump shared hopes several US allies, including the UK, would aid the US to solve the crisis in the strait.
