# Girls Lacrosse to Kick Off Season at Comsewogue
**SAYVILLE, N.Y.** — Anticipation is building on Greeley Avenue as the Sayville girls varsity lacrosse team prepares to open their 2026 spring campaign. Fresh off a standout season that saw them reach the Suffolk Class C championship game, the Golden Flashes are eager to make another deep run under the guidance of head coach Gary Jensen.
Sayville will look to reassert their dominance in Suffolk County League II when they kick off their season next Thursday, March 26. The team is set to host Comsewogue for their league opener, signaling the beginning of what promises to be a challenging and high-stakes schedule.
Following the opener, the Golden Flashes will remain on their home turf to face a pair of formidable non-league opponents: Victor Central High School and Penfield Central High School. These matchups will serve as crucial early-season tests for a squad looking to build momentum before the intensity of the league schedule ramps up in April.
The mid-season slate is packed with competitive League II rivalries. Throughout April, the team will square off against a series of tough opponents, including the Rocky Point Eagles, the Harborfields Tornadoes, the Westhampton Beach Hurricanes, the Islip Buccaneers, and the Mount Sinai Mustangs.
A pivotal stretch arrives late in the month. On April 21, Sayville returns home to face Eastport-South Manor. Two days later, they travel to West Islip before the most anticipated game on the calendar: a grudge match against Bayport-Blue Point. The Golden Flashes are seeking redemption after being eliminated by their top rivals in last year’s Suffolk title game. The month concludes with a road trip to take on Shoreham-Wading River.
The Golden Flashes will round out their regular season with tests against the Smithtown West Bulls and Kings Park. Fans should mark their calendars for a special primetime home game on Tuesday, May 12, as Sayville hosts the Miller Place Panthers at 7 p.m. The regular season is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, May 14, with a road matinee against Mattituck.
With a core of returning talent and a challenging road ahead, Coach Jensen and his squad are poised to build upon last year's successes as they pursue a championship crown in 2026.
