**TEHRAN** – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a stern warning to regional adversaries and Western powers on Friday, declaring that Tehran will exercise "zero restraint" if any Iranian infrastructure is targeted by military strikes.
The statement, issued following a high-level security briefing in Tehran, signals a significant hardening of Iran’s defensive posture amidst escalating tensions across the Middle East. Araghchi’s remarks appear directed at both Israel and the United States, following repeated threats from Tel Aviv to target Iranian oil facilities and nuclear installations.
"Our red lines are clearly defined," Araghchi told reporters. "Any aggression against the sovereign territory of the Islamic Republic, specifically targeting our critical infrastructure, will be met with a decisive and overwhelming response. We have moved past the era of strategic patience; we are now in an era of active defense."
The Foreign Minister emphasized that Iran’s military capabilities have evolved to ensure that any attempt to disrupt the nation's energy sector or power grid would trigger a response that transcends regional conventional warfare.
"Those who believe they can cripple the Iranian nation through targeted strikes are operating under a dangerous delusion," Araghchi added. "If the intent is to impose a cost on our infrastructure, the resulting cost to the aggressor will be immediate, multi-faceted, and total."
Analysts suggest that Araghchi’s rhetoric is a direct response to growing calls within the Israeli security establishment to prioritize strikes on Iran’s oil export terminals—which serve as the country’s economic lifeline—and its deeply buried nuclear research sites.
Military experts note that Iran has spent years hardening its infrastructure against aerial bombardment, shifting key operations into subterranean facilities. Tehran has also heavily invested in a layered air defense network, including the domestically produced Bavar-373 missile system, which the military claims is capable of tracking and intercepting high-end stealth aircraft.
The warning also carries implications for the broader region. By explicitly linking "zero restraint" to the protection of infrastructure, Araghchi implies that Iran is prepared to utilize its full arsenal of ballistic missiles and drone swarms—as well as the capabilities of its regional allies—to strike back at the primary sources of any attack.
