# Manhasset Public Schools Announces Valedictorian and Salutatorian for Class of 2026
**MANHASSET, N.Y.** — Manhasset Public Schools has officially named the top academic achievers for the Manhasset High School Class of 2026, honoring Thomas Grygiel as valedictorian and Blake Ashenberg as salutatorian.
The two students represent the pinnacle of academic rigor and extracurricular dedication within the district.
### Valedictorian: Thomas Grygiel Thomas Grygiel enters the top of his class with a long list of academic and musical achievements. Recognized as both a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction, Grygiel’s academic prowess is matched by his commitment to school leadership.
He is currently the president of the Math Honor Society and maintains active membership in the National, Tri-M, science, Spanish, and social studies honor societies. Beyond the classroom, Grygiel is an accomplished vocalist who has represented Manhasset at the All-County, All-State, All-Eastern, and All-National levels. Most notably, he earned a selection to the ACDA All-National Choir.
Grygiel also balances his academic pursuits with student government and athletics. As president of the Student Senate Executive Board, he facilitates communication between student organizations. Additionally, he served as a four-year varsity swimmer and team captain, culminating in a qualification for the state championships this season.
### Salutatorian: Blake Ashenberg Earning the rank of salutatorian, Blake Ashenberg is recognized as a High Honor Roll student who has navigated a highly demanding curriculum, including advanced engineering courses, multivariable calculus, and a wide array of Advanced Placement coursework.
Ashenberg is an active member of the National, science, math, English, Spanish, social studies, and Tri-M honor societies. His leadership roles include serving as president of both the Engineering Club and the band program, as well as acting as a Student Senate representative for the 1680 History Club.
Since 2022, Ashenberg has demonstrated a commitment to his peers by volunteering as a tutor in math, science, and English for middle and high school students. His competitive spirit extends to the volleyball court, where he serves as captain of the boys varsity volleyball team, earning both All-Conference and scholar-athlete honors. In addition to his high school sports, he competes in travel volleyball, baseball, and CYO basketball.
The Manhasset community looks forward to celebrating the accomplishments of Grygiel, Ashenberg, and the entire Class of 2026 at this year’s commencement ceremonies.
