Send us your pictures of it melting away. We have had several people make their guesses as the contest is officially closed! Now we wait for the snow to be totally and completely gone.
TheLong Island Advancewill be giving away a $100 gift card to Porters on the Lane to the person who guessed the day all the snow melts at the Bellport Village Marina.
At the peak, snow was piled, filling the extra lot at approximately 15 feet high and 160 feet long by 120 feet wide; 10,000 cubic yards of snow from the snowplowing efforts after both the Jan. 25 and Feb. 23 storms.
Snow totals averaged around a foot on Jan. 25. The arctic temperatures also brought in a period of sleet. Then, in February, a blizzard dumped nearly 30 inches of snow, closing schools for two days. Bellport Village specifically reported 26 inches of snow.
RULES:We accepted guesses through Monday, March 9, at midnight. We have compiled a list and will keep watch on the melting snow pile. Only one guess will be taken per person and if multiple people guess the same winning date, a drawing will be held live a few days after all the snow has melted to announce the gift card winner.
