Amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, there have been claims stating that domestic piped gas andCNG supplywill be affected in India as the war in Iran continues. However, the PIB fact-checking unit has clarified the rumours, saying that India does not lack gas supply. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact-checking unit on Wednesday (March 11) took to X and clarified that 100% assured supply continues for domestic piped gas to homes and CNG for vehicles.
They added that the consumers across India will continue to receive full supply.

As the conflict escalates in West Asia after the US-Israel attacked Iran and Tehran's retaliatory attacks, the Centre on Wednesday (March 11) ensured a100 per cent domestic supplyof LPG. The conflict has led to an energy crisis in the region due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), affecting global supply chains.
The government urged people not to panic or to hoard due to misinformation. Meanwhile, the normal delivery cycle for domestic households is 2.5 days.
The ministry further stated that crude oil is now being sourced from non-Strait of Hormuz routes. Moreover, the Oil Ministry, in a gazette notification, had ordered that available gas has to be diverted from non-priority sectors to key users.
The Indian government, from the beginning, has reiterated that the country is in a comfortable position as far as oil and natural gas supplies are concerned.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday told reporters that India’s energy imports were continuing to flow in from different sources and routes, saying that they have taken steps to ensure that 100% supply of CNG & PNG to domestic consumers is ensured and other industries continue to get 70-80% of their supplies, despite the war situation.
