The Donald posted a rather long diatribe on his Truth Social, a social platform that rarely dispenses truth. Let’s break it down.
Iran, which is now suffering a severe defeat, apologized and surrendered to its Middle Eastern neighbors and promised not to fire in their direction anymore. This promise was made only because of the relentless attacks by the US and Israel. They wanted to conquer and control the Middle East.
Iran did not “apologize” for destroying US bases in West Asia, most notably the Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. PresidentMasoud Pezeshkiansaid “Iran’s interim leadership council has approved that neighboring countries will no longer be attacked unless an attack on Iran originates from them.” This is an odd apology.
“Who gave you the authority to drag our region into a war with Iran? And on what basis did you make this dangerous decision?” the Emirati billionaireKhalaf Ahmad Al Habtoorasked Trump in an open letter.
This is rather naive. Is it possible Al Habtoor does not know the answer? Israel and the United States do not need “authority” to mass murder innocent civilians. For instance, the bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, where more than 175 girls were slaughtered. “We are fighting the epstein class that either rapes little girls or bombs little girls,”Dr. Foad Izadiof the University of Tehran told Al Jazeera.
John Bolton, the former (unconfirmed) ambassador to the United Nations under George Bush the Lesser, and fired as advisor by Trump in his first term, insists the United States does not target civilians. This is categorically untrue. Since 9/11, according to research byAirwars, airstrikes conducted by the United States have killed between 22,000 and 48,000 civilians. Anotherstudyestimates “that U.S. military forces were directly responsible for about 10 to 15 million deaths during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and the two Iraq Wars.”
The American public probably is not aware of these numbers and knows even less about the proxy wars for which the United States is also responsible. In the latter wars there were between nine and 14 million deaths in Afghanistan, Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, East Timor, Guatemala, Indonesia, Pakistan and Sudan.
Iran is no longer the “bully of the Middle East” — now they are the “defeated of the Middle East” and will remain so for many decades until they surrender or, more likely, completely disintegrate.
Israel is in fact the bully of the Middle East. “The Israeli strategy of provoking a desired war is not new,” writesTed Snider. Beginning in 1948, the Zionist state provoked a number of wars, including the Arab-Israeli War, the Suez Crisis (with Britain and France), the Six-Day War, the War of Attrition, the Yom Kippur War, the 1982 Lebanon War (including the South Lebanon conflict), the Israel-Hezbollah War, the 2024 invasion of Lebanon (Operation Northern Arrows), the invasion of Syria (Operation Arrow of Bashan), the Twelve-Day War (Operation Rising Lion), and sparked a number of Intifadas in response to Zionist provocations and attacks.
“We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation,” declares theKoenig Memorandum, a confidential and internal Israeli government document authored in April 1976 by Yisrael Koenig. “Our aim is to smash Lebanon, Trans-Jordan, and Syria,” the Israeli General Staff said in 1948.
