Air travel in Pakistan has become significantly more expensive after airlines sharply increased ticket prices following a surge in jet fuel costs. The hike has pushed both domestic and international fares to new highs, adding financial pressure on passengers. According to industry sources, airlines have increased fares on several key domestic routes connecting major cities such as Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
Ticket prices on these routes have risen by PKR 2,800 to PKR 5,000 per passenger, making domestic flights considerably more expensive than before. Previously, domestic flight tickets typically ranged between PKR 10,000 and PKR 15,000, but the latest increases have pushed fares up to PKR 17,000–PKR 20,000 or even higher, depending on the route and demand.

For many passengers, the sudden increase has made air travel less affordable.
The price hike has not been limited to domestic routes. International flights departing from Pakistan have also become significantly more expensive. Airfares for overseas destinations have increased by PKR 10,000 to PKR 28,000 per ticket.
Flights to destinations in the Middle East and Central Asia have seen fare increases of around PKR 15,000, while long-haul destinations such as Toronto and Manchester have recorded hikes of up to PKR 28,000.
As a result, a one-way economy class ticket to Toronto or Manchester now costs more than PKR 250,000, according to travel industry estimates.
