A striking piece of protest art appeared overnight on the National Mall in Washington, DC, drawing attention both on-site and across social media. An anonymous artist installed a statue inspired by the iconic scene from the film Titanic, portraying US President Donald Trump and Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein together on a replica of the ship’s bow.
Videos of the installation quickly circulated online after it appeared early Tuesday morning. According to a report by, The Washington Post, the nearly 12-foot-tall sculpture was spray-painted gold and showed Trump standing behind Epstein while facing the Washington Monument. The pair are positioned in the same pose as the film’s characters Jack and Rose on the front of the doomed ship.
Plaques attached to the base of the structure read: “The tragic love story between Jack and Rose was built on luxurious travel, raucous parties, and secret nude sketches. This monument honors the bond between Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, a friendship seemingly built on luxurious travel, raucous parties and secret nude sketches,'' the report mentioned.
Between the statue and the United States Capitol, ten banners were also placed. Each displayed a photograph of Trump and Epstein together, along with the phrase “Make America Safe Again.” The banners also featured the emblem of the United States Department of Justice, though the word “Justice” appeared redacted.
The installation surfaced without any prior announcement and comes amid renewed attention surrounding recently released documents linked to the Epstein case. The artwork also arrives at a time when Trump is once again facing scrutiny over his alleged connections to Epstein, who has long been accused of running a child sex and prostitution ring.
The piece is believed to be the work of Secret Handshake, an anonymous artist collective known for placing politically themed sculptures around Washington without warning. In September last year, the group installed another statue outside the US Capitol showing Trump and Epstein holding hands, though authorities removed it shortly after it appeared.
