HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Sheriff Chad Chronister said the Citibank security guard who shot an armed suspect Wednesday was a hero. During a news conference Thursday afternoon, the sheriff provided more details about the incident in which the suspect and a woman were killed. It happened just after noon at the Citibank complex near Interstate 75 and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Brandon. “Our suspect took one life, and that’s one life too many,” Chronister said, stating that the suspect was carrying 90 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was identified as Jacob Pearson, 35, of Orlando. He was married with a 7-year-old child. Pearson, who didn’t have a previous criminal record, according to Chronister, died at a local hospital. The woman who was killed was identified as Leanne Selman, 41, of Palm Harbor. She worked at Citibank for nine years. Chronister said the security guard’s name is John Fraley.
