November 5, 2026 BROOKLYN, New York - A former FBI special agent was arrested Thursday and charged in Brooklyn federal court after prosecutors said he struck a pedestrian with his government car in February and left the scene without calling for help, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York Andrew Reyes, 30, of Brooklyn, was charged with willfully depriving a person of constitutional rights while acting under color of law and with making false statements, according to an indictment unsealed Thursday. Prosecutors said that on Feb. 3, about 6:20 a.m., Reyes drove an FBI-issued Chevrolet Impala with its emergency lights on northbound in the southbound lanes of Ocean Parkway, ran a red light at Beverley Road in Kensington and struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk. After the crash, prosecutors said, Reyes dragged the unconscious man from the street across the sidewalk, placed him on a bench with his bag beside him and drove away without reporting the incident or seeking medical aid. When Justice Department Inspector General agents asked him on May 1 whether he had ever hit someone with his FBI car and not reported it, prosecutors said he answered that he had not.
