Jimmy discusses Laika, the Soviet space dog launched into orbit in 1957, highlighting that she was a stray taken from the streets of Moscow and died in space without any possibility of returning to Earth. The segment uses her story to highlight the treatment of animals as disposable in scientific research and promotes animal-rights organizations including Beagle Freedom Project and In Defense of Animals. Jimmy warns that proposed changes to India's rules about laboratory-animal use could weaken protections by allowing the use of stray animals, reducing requirements for anesthesia and post-experiment rehabilitation, and permitting painful procedures such as electric shocks and prolonged isolation. He urges viewers to contact India's government and support animal-protection groups, while also questioning the value of experiments whose harmful effects may already be well known.
