A 26-year-old woman died after falling from the seventh floor of a hotel located in the Ponta d'Areia neighborhood, in São Luís , in the early hours of Tuesday (3). The victim was identified as Renata Rebeca Negrão Saldanha dos Santos . According to the Civil Police, the case is being investigated as an accidental death . Security camera footage obtained by TV Mirante shows Renata with her boyfriend in a hotel hallway ( see below ). According to police, the woman tried to sit on a window sill, but an aluminum structure detached, causing her to fall from the seventh floor. Renata and her boyfriend are from Pará and were in São Luís to participate in a poker championship. According to his statement to the police, the couple arrived in the capital of Maranhão last Wednesday (28) and were scheduled to return to their home state this Tuesday (3). The information was confirmed to TV Mirante by Delegate George Marques, from the Superintendency of Homicides and Protection of Persons (SHPP). According to him, the analysis of the security camera footage led the police to treat the death as accidental .
