Have you met that kind of Christian that talks big smack about how his generation’s faith is gonna change the world for Jesus… but somehow can’t even show up for work on time?

News flash: the chances of you turning the world upside down when you can’t even start your day without hitting snooze twelve times are slim and none. And Slim’s out of town.

It’s not your energy, your enthusiasm, or your social media following that will make or break your usefulness to God building His Kingdom here onterra firma.

Nope. It’s something far more rare and hard to come by these days in the United States of Liberal Acrimony — character.

Too often, the average Christian these days barely meets the threshold of being trustworthy enough to water the neighbours plants, and maybe even feed his cat if you’re really top grade.

Hardly the kind of people like so many in the Early Church and Old Testament that people have been naming their kids after for millennia. So what happened? Better yet, how do we fix it?

To answer that question in a way that will BBQ every excuse we would throw at it, let’s look at some examples of early biblical believers in a far more wretched, godless and hostile culture than the one we find ourselves in.
