Trump has offered shifting explanations for why the U.S. went to war, stating that he believed Iran was preparing to strike first. He said his “opinion” was shaped by discussions with key advisers, including Steve Witkoff, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“It was my opinion that they were going to attack first,” he said.Trump told a press conference on Monday that the “point of no return” was approaching. “I thought that they were going to attack us. I thought that they would… if we didn’t do this at the time we did it, I think they had in mind to attack us,” he said.
Celente said:“You don’t start a war on opinions, you only start them on facts. Where the hell is the outrage?”
Trump has said that he will not stop the war until Tehran agrees to an unconditional surrender and allows him to play the central role in the selection process of its next leader. After the U.S. assassinated Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Trump said, “We want to be involved in the process of choosing the person who is going to lead Iran into the future.”
