Politicians left and right seem hellbent on proving he wisdom of the divine imperative to ‘put not your trust in princes nor in the son of man in whom there is no help’. Senator Thune is no exception.

Why do we call America’s national parties the ‘stupid party’ and the ‘evil party’? It’s pretty simple, really. Then the Evil Party comes into power, they push relentlessly ahead with an agenda nobody ran on, masking their real intentions with anodyne or even benevolent-sounding names like ‘affordable care act’ (it wasn’t), or the Inflation Reduction act (which actually hiked inflation while pushing all kinds of green new deal priorities the same politicians opposed when AOC first introduced them a few years earlier). That one had yet another layer of deception to it, because her original Chief of Staff, who, like her, was a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, let the cat out of the bag. The GND was never about the environment. It was about pushing socialism. Those were his words, not ours, as you can see in the latter half ofthis articlefrom when he quit.

They never worry whether their aggressive tactics of open borders, or impeaching the President on bogus charges, or weaponizing the IRS against conservatives, or arresting grandmothers for praying, or mailing gazillions of unrequested live ballots into the wild where they can be scooped up and filled out by God-alone-knows-who. They have an objective, and they’ll push for that objective now, while worrying about second-order consequences later. Like Obama telling Russia that he would have ‘more flexibility after the election’. Since we like talking about ‘Russian collusion’ so much, here’s thatflexibilityjust a few months later.

They never seem to be inhibited by that 60-vote margin in the Senate. They literally only held half of the senate for much of Biden’s term and they STILL managed to wreak havoc.

The evil party ignores the Constitution because it is an impediment to their goals. Of course, they reserve the right to trot out their undying love of it whenever it can be used as a convenient cudgel against the other team. (see their war measures vote last week, for example.)

The stupid party, on the other hand has an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They could have passed the budget that funded the border wall in 2018. They let Schumer shut down the government with a filibuster bluff (not even a moment’s worth of sweat applied), and the budget died on the vine to be replaced by a creature of Pelosi’s making.

That unfinished wall had some serious consequences. Fast forward almost eight years, and what have we learned from our mistakes? we see some of the same Republicans wringing their hands about bogus ballots tipping elections while the answer is staring them right in the face, with uncanny nation-wide approval across both parties.

The people want the Save America Act to pass. The President wants the Save America act to pass. All eyes turn to Senator Thune…

If you are wondering why a ‘Republican’ Senator (or more accurately, a group of them) are hellbent on keeping a widely-supported bill from passing, one that would benefit their own base and defend the Republic itself from malign influences? We have a clue.
