A chemical reaction during building renovationssent seven Disneyland employees to the hospitalTuesday after the noxious odor generated in a backstage area caused dizziness and shortness of breath, park officials said.
The frightening scene unfolded Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. when staffers noticed a noxious odor near the backstage area of Tomorrowland’s Star Tours attraction, said Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department.
Several cast members who inhaled the dangerous fumes were treated by paramedics on-site and released, park officials said.

Another seven workers were sickened sufficiently that they were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to the officials.
The source of the poisonous gas was determined to be building contractor materials, said Sgt. Sutter.
There were no park visitors sickened, Sutter said.
Sutter could not give an update on the condition of the workers sent to the hospital.
Onstage areas in the vicinity of the sickening odor was cleared of guests, park officials said.
The cleared areas reopened for operations around 3 p.m., Sutter said.
