Trustees Jennifer Stewart and Michael Longobardi are seeking reelection unopposed in Floral Park’s March 18 election.
Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, andevery voting districtwill vote at the village pool/recreation building.
Both incumbents are running with the Floral Park Citizens Party, which has been in power in the village for 70 years, according to the party’sFacebook page.
Jennifer Stewart, who works in education, has been on the village board since 2021, when she was appointed to fill Mayor Kevin Fitzgerald’s seat after his elevation to mayor. She is seeking reelection to her second full term.
“I’m seeking re-election to continue the work that we as a team have begun. I really enjoy trying to help residents solve their day-to-day problems,” she said. “It’s really an honor and a privilege to serve the village that I grew up in, and where I raised my kids.”
She said she hopes to continue working alongside the board to preserve the village’s small-community identity through local laws and resolutions, such as the previously passed law banning lawn rentals.
“All of the departments in the village working together to make sure that our residents are safe and happy is really a joy,” she said.
Longobardi, an accountant, said he wants to prioritize preserving the village’s identity. He said he brings fiscal expertise and experience to the board. He has been on the village board since 2022 and is currently seeking his second term.
“I’ve learned more of the inner workings of the village board,” he said. “As much as I thought I knew, you don’t realize how much truly goes on behind the scenes and how much you need to learn to be successful.”
He said he hopes to be reelected to continue serving the community.
