October 29, 2026 MANHATTAN, New York - Supporters of the group End Jew Hatred gathered Thursday morning outside Manhattan Criminal Court at 100 Centre Street for a scheduled hearing for Anna Mochalova, 32, a Brooklyn woman accused of stabbing two Jewish men in the Diamond District. The group celebrated after learning her case had moved to federal court. Federal prosecutors charged Mochalova on Wednesday with two hate crimes, and she was transferred from state custody to face the federal case, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. Prosecutors allege that on Oct. 21, at about 5:50 p.m., she stabbed a man wearing Orthodox Jewish clothing in the lower back on West 47th Street, then stabbed a second man wearing a yarmulke in the forearm at Sixth Avenue and West 45th Street, according to the federal complaint. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, according to prosecutors. Mochalova previously pleaded not guilty to state charges, NBC New York reported.
