NEW YORK — Victor Romero, 62, a retired NYPD detective charged with first-degree manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a driver on the George Washington Bridge, leaves Manhattan criminal court Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026. Prosecutors say Romero fired a single shot into Koran Irvine's Volkswagen Golf on Oct. 20 after the two nearly collided while entering the bridge's upper level. Irvine, 46, a Con Edison worker and father of two from Valley Cottage, New York, died of his injuries. Police first charged Romero with murder, but the Manhattan district attorney's office reduced the charge to manslaughter. Romero, of Haverstraw, New York, is free on $1 million bail.
