U.S. Marines with Littoral Combat Force-24 and Sailors aboard the USS San Antonio (LPD 17) intercepted a floating refueling station allegedly tied to Los Choneros, according to U.S. Southern Command. This video follows the whole operation from the inside, with the original audio from the raid: the preparation aboard the ship, the helicopter, the fast boat, the boarding, the handover of the people on board to Ecuador, and the final sinking. According to SOUTHCOM, the target was a main vessel with support boats attached, used as a floating refueling station for illicit at-sea trafficking operations. Southern Command says the people on board were removed and transferred to Ecuadorian authorities, and that U.S. forces then sank the main vessel and the attached support vessels. Earlier operations against similar targets were carried out from the air; this one began with a boarding.
