October 9, 2026 MANHATTAN, NEW YORK — Protesters marched through Manhattan against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement a day after an ICE officer shot Oscar Belgal, 28, during an arrest attempt in Marble Hill. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said a plainclothes federal officer fired seven rounds as Belgal's car moved forward, striking him below his left ear, and that a 5-year-old boy in the car was not hurt, the Associated Press reported. The Department of Homeland Security said an ICE officer fired his weapon while trying to arrest Belgal, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the shooting an outrage. The video shows marchers carrying banners and signs reading "ICE Out of NYC," "New York Is For All" and "Stop Shooting Our Neighbors," crowds filling a plaza in Lower Manhattan, and speakers addressing the rally.
