The UAE’s largest refinery, Ruwais Refinery, has become the latest to have been hit by a drone on Tuesday, the latest disruption to energy infrastructure due to the US-Israeli war on Iran.
Reuters quoted a source saying that Abu Dhabi state oil giant Adnoc has shut its Ruwais refinery after a fire broke out at a facility within the complex following a drone strike.
“The Ruwais refinery has halted operations out of precaution," AFP quoted a source saying, adding that there were no injuries reported.

In a post on X, the government’s media office said: “The competent authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi are dealing with a fire that broke out in one of the facilities within the Ruwais Industrial Complex, resulting from a drone attack, with no injuries recorded so far. The competent authorities have urged the public to obtain information from official sources only, and to avoid circulating rumors or unverified information."
According to Adnoc, its Ruwais facility is “the world’s fourth-largest single-site refinery".
This comes a day afterIslamic Revolutionary Guard Corps(IRGC) spokesman Ebrahim Zolfighari dared the US to continue war as crude oil price continued to soar.
“If they can afford the price of oil at $200 per barrel, let them keep playing this game," Zolfighari said in a video message posted byAl Jazeera. He added that the US has began a new chapter in the war by bombing Iran’s energy infrastructure.
