In this segment Jimmy discusses Sean Ryan’s explanation for initially withholding an interview with Leah Files, arguing that Ryan failed to directly address her central allegation that his producers told her not to mention Peter Thiel, Andreessen Horowitz, or Palantir during the recording. Jimmy finds less than plausible Ryan’s claims that he withheld the episode to help Files save face and that releasing an unedited version afterward demonstrated transparency, contending that the unresolved allegation about restricting discussion of powerful technology investors remains the key issue.
Jimmy also questions Ryan’s publicly disclosed investments in companies connected to military and surveillance technology, challenging his characterization of supporting American troops and defense innovation as efforts to save lives while criticizing U.S. military interventions and the continuation of foreign wars. Jimmy agrees with commentator Ian Carroll’s call for a clear explanation of whether the alleged restrictions were imposed and, if so, why, while arguing that releasing the interview after public criticism does not by itself resolve the controversy or establish that either party’s account is accurate.
