British holidaymakers heading abroad are being urged to check the latest travel guidance after the UK Foreign Office updated its "do not travel" list amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has issued fresh warnings covering several popular destinations, including Cyprus, Turkey, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Officials say the conflict in the Middle East -now in its eleventh day- has already triggered airspace closures, flightcancellations and disruptionto travel routes, even in countries not directly involved. UK nationals have already been evacuated from Oman, theUnited Arab Emirates,and other affected areas, with thegovernment arranging charter flightsto bring citizens home safely. Britons are being advised to monitor airline updates, check travel insurance carefully and register travel plans with the FCDO before flying.

The Foreign Office currently advises against all travel to a number of destinations due to conflict, terrorism or severe instability.
Afghanistan - Complete avoidance of travel advised
Iran - British nationals are urged to reconsider their presence in Iran due to serious risks.
Iraq - All travel to Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region is considered unsafe.
Israeland the Occupied Palestinian Territories - Travel is fully restricted.
Syria - Travel to Syria is strongly discouraged.
